Everything you need to assemble and safely use your Egg Chairs UK hanging egg chair. Please read the full manual before you start, and keep it for as long as you own the chair.

Read before assembly and before every use

Never hang the seat from a tree, branch, pergola, beam, balcony or ceiling. Use only the stand supplied with it.
Maximum occupants: one person on single-seat models, two people on double-seat models. The maximum user weight for your model is shown on its product page.
Children must never use the chair unsupervised. An adult must be within arm's reach, and no child should be left in or near the chair unattended.
Complete the pre-use check below before anyone sits in the chair.
Stop using the chair if any part is bent, cracked or frayed, if a connector will not close fully, or if rust has pitted the hook bolt, spring, bearing, chain or a weld.
Use only on firm, flat, level ground with at least 1 metre clear all round. Take the seat down when strong wind is forecast.

Before you start

Two adults. You will need two 18 mm spanners (not supplied), and firm, flat, level ground — assemble the chair where it will stand.

Keep children and pets out of the assembly area. Do not use power tools, impact drivers, pliers or a bar over the spanner: these damage the threads in ways you cannot see.

Your parts

Part A — Metal Hook Bolt
Part B — Spring
Part C — Bolts & screws, for securing the stand to the base
Part D — Bearing, in a small blue box inside the cushion bag

Where are the accessories? Inside the base packaging. Open it, then turn the base upside down and give it a gentle shake — all the accessories will fall out from within.

If anything is missing, bent or damaged, stop. Do not assemble the chair and do not substitute parts from a DIY shop. Email us a photo with your order number and we'll send replacements free of charge.

Assembly

Step 1 — Prepare the base

Make sure the area is flat, stable and free of obstructions. Unpack all the parts and check them against the list above.

Step 2 — Attach the stand to the base

Align the vertical stand with the base ring.
Use accessory C to fix the stand to the base.
Use two 18 mm spanners — one to hold the bolt head steady, the other to tighten the nut from the opposite end.
Tighten firmly so there is no movement in the joint.

Step 3 — Install the Metal Hook Bolt & Bearing

Take the Bearing (D) from the small blue box.
Insert it into the Metal Hook Bolt (A) — it allows the chair to rotate smoothly.
Insert the hook bolt into the top of the stand and screw it in securely. It must not wobble.

Step 4 — Connect the Spring

Attach the Spring (B) to the Metal Hook Bolt (A).
Check both ends are tight and secure, and that the spring cannot be lifted out by hand.

Step 5 — Hang the basket seat

Two adults: one takes the weight of the seat, one makes the connection.
Connect the basket seat to the Spring using the attached chain or hook.
Make sure every hook, link and connector is fully closed, with no visible gap.
Check the Spring sits square in the Metal Hook Bolt.

Pre-use check

Before anyone sits in the chair:

Every base bolt is fitted with its washer and nut, and cannot be moved when pushed firmly by hand.
The stand does not rock, twist or click, and all feet sit flat on level ground.
The Metal Hook Bolt is fully screwed down and cannot be turned by hand or lifted.
The Spring is fully seated in the hook bolt and cannot be lifted out.
Every hook, link and connector is fully closed, with no visible gap.
The seat hangs level and clears the frame, the ground and any wall when it swings.
There is at least 1 metre of clear space all round the seat.

If you cannot confirm every point, do not use the chair. Unhook the seat, store it out of reach so that no one can sit in it, and contact us. Repeat this check monthly, after any storm, and whenever the chair is moved or re-assembled.

Care & maintenance

Wipe the frame and PE rattan with a damp cloth and mild soap, then dry thoroughly.
Cushions: spot clean only, with mild soap and cold water. Do not machine wash.
No abrasive cleaners, bleach or pressure washers.
Use a cover when the chair is not in use, or store it under cover. Dry the frame before fitting a cover.
Re-check every bolt after the first week of use, then monthly.
Rust: light surface marking on the frame is normal on outdoor furniture and is not a fault — clean it and touch it up with an exterior-grade enamel paint. Never paint over rust on the hook bolt, spring, bearing, chain or connector, or over rust bubbling under the paint or at a weld. Contact us and we'll send a free replacement part.
Fire safety: the cushion cover and filling have been tested to BS 5852:2006 against ignition sources 0 and 1 and did not ignite. As with all furniture, keep the chair and its cushions away from open flames, embers, barbecues, fire pits and heaters.
